The Rise of the Land Down Under

Seven years after delivering the most original musical in decades – yeah…decades – Moulin Rouge! director Baz Luhrmann will take us to Australia on Nov. 14.

Starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, the film tells an epic story set in pre-World War II Northern Down Under.

Kidman plays Lady Sarah Ashley, an English aristocrat who inherits a sprawling ranch and reluctantly pacts with a stock-man simply known as The Drover (Jackman), in order to protect her property from a takeover plot.

As the two drive 2,000 head of cattle over an unforgiving landscape, they experience the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by Japanese forces firsthand, and inevitably fall in love.
